Since becoming a Young Living member, we’ve been working on switching over the products in our home to clean, non-toxic products. It’s not practical (for most people) to switch everything over at once, so I’ve been doing it just a few things at a time. Each month I add a new item or two into my monthly order. This has been a great (and not overwhelming) way to replace the old products in our home. Besides the Thieves Concentrate (that we use to clean everything), the laundry soap was one of the first things I bought. And because I also enjoy being thrifty, I immediately began searching ways to make the laundry soap stretch further. However, I didn’t want to do this at the expense of losing quality of product. After all, I still needed our clothes to get clean. I can say that this method of tripling the laundry soap still works absolutely amazing. And it’s super easy to throw together.

Items Needed:
Thieves Laundry Soap
3 capfuls of Thieves concentrate
20 drops of essential oils (I use 10 drops of purification and 10 drops of lemon)
Distilled water
Optional:
32oz Glass jar (there’s also the option to get these in an amber color)
Pump for jar
Laundry label
Start off by separating the laundry soap into thirds. When I started doing this hack, I’d keep a third of the soap in the original container and the remaining in a mason jar. That’s still an option, however I decided to buy large glass jars to store it all in and this works so much better for me. So I have three 32oz glass jars that I equally divide the soap into. I bought these adorable labels on Etsy. This obviously isn’t necessary, but it makes doing laundry a little more cute.
Then in one of the containers, I add in 3 capfuls of thieves concentrate, 20 drops of essential oils (I do 10 drops purification and 10 drops of lemon), then I top it off with distilled water. Lightly shake the bottle to mix it all together. I usually mix it a few times a day for a day or two, just to help it all get blended together properly. If you shake it too much, it bubbles up, so don’t get too crazy right before you need to use it.
I personally like to leave my other jars of laundry soap unmixed until shortly before they will get used. Once the soap I’m currently using starts to get low, I will mix up the next jar so it’s ready to go.
And that’s it! It’s such an easy way to stretch your product and money to go further. By doing this hack, this laundry soap lasts us many, many months! I haven’t really tracked how long it takes us to go through it, but I’ve only had to buy two bottles of the laundry soap within about a year.
